Put Your Stash to Work

Somewhere, there is a box of art supplies waiting for the project that was going to happen. Starlandia has a useful suggestion for it. Through the Bull Street shop’s Community Credit program, usable supplies can become store credit for a local school or nonprofit. A little room in your closet, a little more room for someone else to create.

Here’s how it works: bring in the materials, choose a registered organization and let Starlandia assess the trade. Once the supplies are processed, the resulting credit goes to that organization’s account. The school or nonprofit can then shop for what it needs at Starlandia. You don’t need an appointment to bring supplies in, though it’s worth checking with the shop about anything you’re unsure it can use.

There’s a good fit between the program and the place. Starlandia opened in June 2015 with a small team and a few shelves, building a business around creative materials that still had something left to give. In 2024, it expanded into the neighboring storefront for a dedicated fabric and textile department. Community Credit carries that same idea a little further, giving the value of those materials a destination you can choose.

The shop named eight inaugural partners in its announcement, including Loop It Up Savannah, EmployAbility, ARTS Southeast and Savannah Children’s Theatre. Other schools and nonprofits can apply through the program’s website. Starlandia is at 2438 Bull Street in Starland, so this is an easy errand to fold into a trip through the neighborhood. The unfinished project may still be unfinished, but the supplies don’t have to sit there waiting for it.
