The Way You Make Me Feel: A Jazz Reimagining of Michael Jackson Featuring Niki Harris & The Christian Tamburr Band

District live

Michael Jackson’s music gets a completely different treatment at District Live on Sept. 10. Niki Harris joins The Christian Tamburr Band for an evening that reshapes Jackson favorites through a jazz lens, trading some of the familiar pop production for live instrumentation, inventive arrangements, and vocal interpretation. The set gives recognizable songs room to breathe while allowing the musicians to put their own stamp on them. It’s a chance to hear these well known tracks in a setting that feels less like a tribute show and more like a creative reinterpretation. Doors open for an 8 p.m. performance, making for an easy evening out in Savannah.

Les Misérables

Savannah Theatre

Savannah Theatre welcomes ‘Les Misérables’ back to the stage on Sept. 10 and 12 at 8 p.m., with a 3 p.m. matinee on Sept. 13. Set against the turmoil of revolutionary France, the musical follows Jean Valjean and the people whose lives become intertwined with his, from desperate struggle to moments of hope and forgiveness. The score is filled with some of musical theater’s best known songs, making this a familiar favorite for longtime fans while still offering plenty for newcomers to discover. If you enjoy sweeping stories and classic Broadway productions, this is one to put on your calendar.

September Riverfront Concert (Cordovas)

Eastern Wharf

Head down to The Park at Eastern Wharf on Sept. 11 for an evening with Cordovas as part of the September Riverfront Concert. Their music moves comfortably between country, folk, Americana, and rock, with harmony driven songs that fit especially well in an outdoor setting. The riverfront location adds another reason to arrive early, find a comfortable spot, and enjoy the evening as the music gets underway at 7 p.m. Bring friends, make an evening of it, and take in the waterfront while Cordovas provide the soundtrack. It’s a relaxed way to spend a Friday night in Savannah.
