Inside the SCAD Fall Fine Art Showcase
Every fall, SCAD opens the doors of Alexander Hall and Graham Scott on Indian Street for an event that quietly draws thousands of people students, locals, collectors, and the simply curious. The Fall Fine Art Showcase, happening this year on Friday, October 25 from 6–9 p.m., is one of those Savannah nights that’s low on pretense but rich in talent.

If you’ve ever driven by and wondered what’s going on inside those big brick buildings, this is your chance to find out. Inside, the studios transform into galleries filled with student work paintings, ceramics, photography, printmaking, and pieces that don’t fit neatly into any one category. It’s creative, varied, and often surprising.
I went last year and remember being struck by the range of ideas. Some pieces were polished and ready for a gallery wall; others were experimental, still in the process of becoming something. That mix is what makes it work. It’s not about perfection it’s about seeing the next generation of artists at the moment they’re figuring it out.
The setup is simple: two buildings, open studios, food trucks out front, and music in the air. You can walk up to any student and ask about their work.

They’ll tell you how they made it, what materials they used, and sometimes what went wrong before it went right.
And while SCAD’s facilities are as impressive as always comfortable, modern, and full of small design details the art is the real draw. The students are serious about what they’re doing, and it shows.
The event is free and open to the public, and it’s one of the easiest ways to get a real look inside SCAD’s Fine Arts program. You don’t need to know anything about art to enjoy it. Just come ready to walk, look, and maybe leave with a new favorite artist.
If you only make it to one SCAD event this season, make it this one.
