Different concepts. Different menus. Different rhythms. But when you spend time in both places, you feel the same thing underneath it all: intention.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u201cWhatever made your first location successful, you got to be able to continue that,\u201d Fekete says. \u201cCustomer centric and well focused. It can\u2019t go wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That sounds simple until you try to do it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">A restaurant or coffee shop is a thousand tiny decisions happening all day. The person at the counter. The lighting. The training. The way someone feels when they leave. The way a guest is treated when nobody important is watching.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">For Fekete, consistency starts with people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u201cWe have people that have been with us for over 10 years,\u201d he says. \u201cYou get good people, take good care of them, train them right, and trust them to continue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That may be the whole business.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/savannahmadesimple.com\/Magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Building-The-Place_4.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:100%;\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Because when you are building a place people return to, the product is only part of the promise. The rest is trust.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u201cThey\u2019ve chosen your restaurant,\u201d Fekete says. \u201cThey have an experience, and you got to treat them like you\u2019re inviting somebody to your house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That idea, hospitality as home, runs through both conversations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">At Origin, Higgins says he and his wife Elise never originally planned to build a coffee empire. Savannah already had independent coffee shops. They were not trying to become another generic caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u201cWhy does a big town like Savannah need another one? It doesn\u2019t,\u201d Higgins says.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">But they realized something important. People were hungry for a space that felt intentional. Not just functional, but emotional.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Higgins came from music, branding, and design. Elise came from SCAD and accessory design, where texture and materials matter. Together, they understood something many businesses miss completely: a coffee shop is not just a counter and a menu. It is a room people emotionally live inside for an hour.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u201cWe were able to fill a gap,\u201d Higgins says. \u201cPeople can step into something that feels like home, but feels beyond where they are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That is Origin at its best. Clean but not cold. Polished but not sterile. Bright enough to work. Warm enough to stay.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">And for anyone trying to build something in Savannah right now, that may be the lesson.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad_width1\">\n<div class=\"fl-lt ad_width2\">\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">The room matters. The lighting matters. The walk from the door to the counter matters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">The music, the materials, the counter height, the way the staff looks up when someone enters, all of it matters. Not because customers consciously analyze every detail, but because they feel the sum of it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Higgins understands execution is where the vision either lives or dies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u201cSet your level of expectation above what you think is going to happen,\u201d he says. \u201cBe ready for it to fall short of every expectation, but keep your level of excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That is not perfectionism. It is stewardship.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"fl-rt ad_width2\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/savannahmadesimple.com\/Magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Building-The-Place_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:100%\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Origin is self funded. No giant investment group. No corporate machine behind the curtain. Just a family, a team, and a community that kept showing up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u201cThe community supported us,\u201d Higgins says.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u201cSo being able to create a higher end experience with what we can afford at the time, but knowing you can always improve on it, that has kind of been our approach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That feels especially relevant in Savannah right now, where so many young creatives are trying to build something meaningful with limited resources.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Start with what you have.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">But do not lower the standard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">At Java Burrito, Fekete\u2019s version of that standard shows up through systems and consistency. The guest experience has to feel dependable without becoming robotic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u201cYou learn and become involved with the business,\u201d he says. \u201cIt becomes a little more systematic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That word scares some creative people. Systems. Training. Processes. But without them, the feeling does not survive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">A great restaurant cannot rely forever on the founder standing in the corner making every decision. Eventually the values have to become part of the team itself. For Higgins, that means teaching intentionality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u201cHow am I going to make this person\u2019s day?\u201d he says. \u201cYou have 30 seconds to make or break someone\u2019s day when you have them across the bar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Thirty seconds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That is the business.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Not the Instagram post. Not the branding package. Not the expansion strategy. The actual human standing in front of you whose day can genuinely improve because of how they were treated.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad_width1\">\n<div class=\"fl-lt ad_width2\">\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">If they leave feeling better than when they arrived, you won.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That may be the commonality between Origin and Java Burrito. They are not simply selling coffee or burritos. They are selling the feeling that somebody cared before you walked through the door.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">And in Savannah, that still matters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">This city exposes fake quickly. A place can look beautiful online, but if the room does not breathe, if the team does not care, if the details slowly disappear, people feel it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">The best places here are rarely the loudest.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"fl-rt ad_width2\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/savannahmadesimple.com\/Magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Building-The-Place_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:100%\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">They are the ones people quietly return to over and over again.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That is the real art. Not opening. Returning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Building something good enough that people come back on an ordinary Tuesday morning because the room still feels right.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">For Higgins, that work never stops.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u201cWe have to get better every day,\u201d he says. \u201cIf we don\u2019t, it\u2019s not that things are going to fall apart, but they\u2019ll slowly slip.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That may be the most honest thing anyone can say about hospitality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Nothing usually collapses all at once. It slips.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">A little less care. A little less training. A little less attention to the room, the guest, the team, the details.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Then one day the place still exists, but the magic is gone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Origin and Java Burrito are both trying to protect against that slow fade in their own ways. Through standards. Through people. Through consistency.
